Smokey Bay spelt the wrong way confuses a lot of people.
Matthew Flinders named the bay “Smoky” in 1802, due to the visible smoke from fires ignited by either Lightning strikes or the local Aborigines.
The spelling without the “E” has remained ever since.
These T-shirts poke a bit of fun at this incorrect spelling.
